Swimming Fish

I took this shot at Newport Fashion Island in Newport Beach. Newport Fashion Island is an outdoor mall that is home to some fashionable and exclusive stores. I took this shot because it looked interesting and I could never find the fish on some of Hong Kong Daily Photo's find the fish contests.

Alone at the MetroLink station

This is the Laguna Niguel MetroLink station where commuters park their cars and catch a commuter train to work. Southern California is not really known for using public transportation like Paris but we are trying to catch up to the rest of the world. I think most of the people in Southern California have cars unlike some other big cities.

Explore Laguna Beach

This is the view from Cliff Drive in Laguna Beach very close to Las Brisas. The fog was pretty thick but I managed to get a pretty clear shot. Can you see the guy on the rocks? There used to be a pier at this location until it was washed away by a storm in 1932. For more information on the History of Laguna Beach click here.

Day Drive

This is what the night drive looks like during the day. This road leads to Costco a large warehouse retailer in the United States. They have everything from batteries to Picasso and they have a pretty good wine section. Although; the Picasso that is for sale is being reported as a fake. more info They had the display at this Costco and also on sale were Miro, Rembrandt, Warhol and Dali. They also give free samples of some of their items and have a cheap food court. Hot Dogs and a Drink for $1!!!

Lonely

This is the beach during the off season. It was so gloomy that this trash can and some birds were the only ones on the beach. This shot was taken at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point. Also located in this area are The Ritz Carlton and Hotel Saint Regis. These are two of the most luxurious hotels in Orange County. The Hotel Saint Regis is known for some of the most beautiful views in Orange County.

Someone please do the dishes.

After the movies and dinner last night these dishes were left on the table for about 30 minutes before a waiter picked them up. It was closing time so I guess they did not need the table. My wife and I saw "Inside Man" starring Denzel Washington and Clive Owen. The movie was great! It is a bank heist movie so if you like some action and intrigue go see this movie.

Wilderness Park

Most people know Laguna Beach for the MTV show "Laguna Beach" the real OC or the Pageant of the Masters. Laguna Beach also has many wilderness parks that attract many nature lovers from all over Orange County. Laguna Coast Wilderness park is located in Laguna Canyon on the way to downtown Laguna Beach.

Beach time!!!

As the weather gets warmer the people get to the beach! This is a lifeguard tower at Mountain Street in Laguna Beach which will start getting busy (saving lives) in about a week or two. There were some people on the beach today laying out but I didn't get a shot.

Out of Place

This house is located in the high priced area of Laguna Beach. I thought it was out of place among the million dollar homes and high priced hotels. The house has a great view of the ocean and Pacific Coast Highway.

Moroccan Fountain

A Moroccan fountain in Orange County? Actually, this fountain is located in the Irvine Spectrum entertainment center. They have various themed courtyards and this one is the Moroccan one. Irvine Spectrum is the same place where they have the
50% off sushi.

Driving at Night

Took this shot on the way home from the gas station. The road was deserted so I took a shot while I was driving.

Dog Park

In Orange County we love our dogs and have many parks designated just for them. This one is located in Laguna Beach and was one of the first. We also have some designated dog beaches but that is a shot for another day.

Soccer

This is a shot of Aliso Canyon Community park which is just above my shortcut. The place is very open and not very crowded except on the weekends. The trails in the area attract many Mountain Bikers and Hikers. Also, there is a very nice soccer field.

Smoking?

I went to dinner last night and on my way to a coffee shop I saw this poster and thought about the city of Calabasas here in Southern California banning all smoking in the city. To my knowledge it is the first city to do this but of course there are still some places you can smoke.

Are we getting that healthy?

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

This picture is in Downtown Seal Beach. I took this during my hunt for a Paris related picture and St. Patrick's Day was coming up so it was perfect.

Shortcut

This is a little shortcut behind Aliso Creek Community Park. The park is a big open area with soccer goals and trails for hikers and bikes. There is also a Natural History Museum close by. The road actually only saves about a minute or two off my drive but it is pretty scenic.

Seed Pods

I went to Laguna Beach Dog Park today and saw a sign of Spring. The seeds were falling from this tree. Unfortunately, I don't know what kind of tree this was.

Clouds again!

I know I posted a few shots of the sky but this one looked so amazing I had to post another. I took this on the 5 freeway near Tustin on my way to Cirque de Soleil in Long Beach. It was raining the whole day but it ended up being a perfect night but it was pretty cold.

eBar

This sign looked pretty interesting plus after looking at it for awhile I started to get dizzy. This shot was taken at a Nordstrom Espresso bar in Irvine called eBar.

Morning Coffee and Daily Photo

As I was making this batch of coffee I thought of how this reminded me of the Daily Photo sites. I use a Bialetti Moka coffee pot. It makes great shots of espresso and cost much less than a full espresso machine.

This is French's Bakery in Irvine. They are famous for a Wagon Wheel danish, which is a pizza sized pastry with cream cheese and various other toppings. I don't know if this is a French dessert? They also have good French baguettes and cakes too.

Metrolink

I was going to Costco when I passed the Metrolink Station in Laguna Niguel. The station itself was not very busy, I was the only person there. This particular station is only busy during the morning and afternoon commute.

Going to the park

I went to the Grand Park in Aliso Viejo today and saw the trees and grass. The way the wind was blowing reminded me of the wheat fields I always see in pictures.

Sushi Anyone?

50% off sushi!!! Either the sushi is not that good or the competition is very tough. The sushi here is actually OK and the competition for restaurant business here is very tough. Especially during Happy Hour which is usually between 5-8pm or 5pm til closing. Remember to check out the map of my posts to the right. The restaurant is located at Irvine Spectrum.

Lounge Area

This was taken at the same place as a previous post Orange Hallway. This is the Lounge or fountain area. Again, they have great restaurants and shops here.

Little Corona Del Mar Beach

Pathway leading to Little Corona Del Mar Beach and Corona Del Mar State Beach. Many Television shows and Movies were filmed on these beaches such as Gilligan's Island. This is the same area where I took the seaside statue photo.

Cold Spell

This shot was taken during a cold spell here in Southern California. I posted this shot because of all the photos of snow on the Daily Photo Blogs. I felt left out. :-)

Basketball anyone!

This is the Basketball court at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point. This a very nice place to relax and have a picnic or lay out on the beach. I took this picture because I love the beach and basketball.

Edwards Big Newport

Edwards Big Newport has the biggest screen on the west coast. Unlike the new multiplexes that have 10 or more screens Big Newport only has 6 it's main screen is 40x80 feet(12x24 meters). For more info check here. I was inspired to take this picture by link.

Soka University

As I was driving I saw what looked like a modern day castle or the closest thing to a castle we have in Aliso Viejo on a hill so I stopped and took this photo. It is Soka University the only University in Aliso Viejo. Click here to learn more about Soka University.
